It is illegal under Privace & Electronic Communications Regulations & Data Protection Act (see ICO.org) to use personal data without permission, irrespective of whether it is on a list or not. I have reported them to ICO. You should too - it is the only way to get nuisance callers fined.

Man claimed to be from Microsoft and knew my name. Asked if I had a computer. As I did not answer and just kept asking him how he got our number (we are registered with TPS) he said it was from publicly available sources! He then said as I was not cooperating he would cut me off straight away. Extremely concerning due to his bullying attitude and tendency to answer back rather than ending the call as most of them do.

This number calls me at least three times a day. Never leave a message. I think it is a call centre/automated call, as there is a lot of background noise which suggests this.
iv had the same trouble with SSE about bills. I had changed to ovo, much better service and much cheaper. My advice: leave SSE and go to OVO.
