Obviously power dialling as my telephone provider uses UK call centres. As to motive? don't know but should not be cold calling my number

Call center -operative claimed to be from Virgin Media Technical Services; said he needed me o take my (landline phone) into the room with the computer, then turn it on, so he could do something to my router, to "give me the speed [I] was paying for". I've had at least four calls from these guys (with heavy Asian accents, to the point of not being able to be understood); it is the same script, but the calls have come from a number of different phone numbers in the West Midlands. SCAM - repetitive message phishing for information
Hal s reply is spot on. If someone sends a text message to your landline and you don t pick up the phone it gets stored for you to retrieve later. This 0795 number is where you collect the message, plus the number of the mobile phone that sent the text. It s not dangerous. All depends on what the text message says, of course - that could be anything. In my case it was someone texting to say Sorry I Missed Your Call. See? Not dangerous.

SCAM / SPAM Caller said he was from Domestic & General Insurance and was ringing as my cooker cover was due to expire - I've never had more than the standard warranty on my cooker, and it's older than the couple of years ago he said I'd taken out the policy. He knew my name and address and said the company was TPS compliant, but I'm TPS registered so that's a lie too.
