Seems to be used for some telemarketing call center - this range of numbers 1612497xxx (common feature, they use more numbers of the same range) is mostly reported with PPI claims services, insurance marketing, robocalls. Just block it if not interested (I use the app from these pages, no problems). Folks did they call you with the same or something new? I really don't answer unknown numbers and don't want to call them back...
Ambulance chasers. Spammed me all day. Google and phone say its The Village Store in Batley. Answered 3 times and line dead. On the 4th finally somebody speaks, very bad English asking for me by name, said yes thats me, he got aggressive asking where MR Jayne (surname) was. Melville consultants visited my company saying they could appeal and reduce our business rates. The person who visited was Peter John. He said they could put in an appeal, no charge, but if appeal accepted then they would charge to complete the appeal and send in a surveyor. After researching it turns out anybody can put an appeal it takes a few minutes -the whole thing is a complete scam avoid at all costs.
