In answer to your question, Mike - because the lowlifes that initiate spam/scam calls do so without much regard for convention, and as they use VoIP phones, it is easy for them ...

Cold call asking if I'd had an accident in the last 3 years. Didn't even have the correct name for me and hung up when I asked to be removed from their database.

Telepest from abroad eventhough it appears like a Uk number.. Just dont answer then store in your phone as a pest so you know when they ring again !

I ve had a couple of missed calls from 0845-0942574 today (Tues 22nd Aug 17). I tried calling it back on my work phone (Skype) but the call wouldn t connect as the number isn t in service. Very dodgy if you ask me!

this number text me saying this is their new number and had lost contacts. They asked so send numbers of people we both knew. I stupidly thought it was my aunt Sue, and sent my mum, cousin and Nan s numbers. The following day i received a text asking if i am busy and if i could do them a favour and get them ?20 O2 top up by texting them the code. Had 8 phone calls of this number in the last 2 weeks, did not answer for most of them as abroad when home and did answer there was just background noise so hung up.

This is a completely valid number - the only problem is that it is a generic outbound call and you will be unable to identify the specific department that called you. This is actually quite frustrating for most recepiants. The NHS will normally call again later.

3 calls within 2 hours. No answer from anyone at other end so have blocked any further calls as I can't be bothered with automated calls.
