This number seems to be used for a classical telemarketing, or it is a directly some general call centre. They usually work for some third company and call with offer of some goods or services for the actual company they were hired for. In this case the number is mostly reported in connection with Scottish power, but it seems they are working for multiple energy providers. Don't be surprised if you are not able to call them back, the call centre gateway is set for outbound call only from their side.

Has anyone reported this number to BT or Virgin? They have a duty to investigate and disconnect landlines if they are causing harassment, alarm or distress. In some cases even prosecute. I have reported a few scammers and they and no longer exist. It wont' eradicate them completely as they will spring up again with another number but the more you inconvenience them and close the net the more likely they will give up. Remember, there are more law abiding people than there are scammers.
