Had account for £300 never heard of company named Pearson. Found number on net from e mail address www.pearson .com. Seemed dodgy possible Indian voice, seemed confused where he was situated. Wanted me to send info etc. Asked if he was a scam at first he said yes then no could not seem to explain who he was.

Called me to say there was a fraudulent payment from my account I wasn’t sure as had few such calls in the past Told them I appreciate it but I would like to call the bank myself to verify and he happily agreed Either it was genuine or he is very good at pretending but turned out the latter

Said they were from home solutions I said what is home solutions he just kept.wanting me to confirm my name, and I repeated my question, he hung up.....

Seems to be used for some telemarketing call center - this range of numbers 16181490xx (common feature, they use more numbers of the same range) is mostly reported with some wide-scope telemarketing call centre, reported with PPI, insuarance marketing, loans/debts, energy schemes. Just block it if not interested (I use the app from these pages, no problems). Folks did they call you with the same or something new?

Update for my entry 19/04/17. Call from this number received after placing ad on Gumtree to sell a car. Caller spoke with South Asian accent, claiming to represent, MTA Solicitors regarding a Road Traffic Collision. I contacted MTA Solicitors directly. They do not make or condone cold calls whatsoever. Any cold call received where the caller purports to be from or acting on behalf of MTA Solicitors, should be treated as fraudulent.

SCAM I recieved a telephone call from what sounded like a call center, but the number was local (01942 491331) the man who spoke was asian sounding claiming to be from the' tax office', said I owed 6 months taxes. I challenged him and asked what ref number he had, he couldn't tell me so I asked for a name and number to call back but he just insisted I pay now or I would be arrested!, so I asked how much? he still couldn't tell me or even my name, just repeated my phone number. I then called him a scammer
