Automated message purportedly from VISA about a £600 debit on my account about 10.17am Mon 15 Mar, 2021. Their phone number (sourced from 1471) shares the same first 8 digits with two numbers featured on this site: 211 and 212. This implies that the company behind this scam has purchased a string of phone numbers. Surely, it can't be beyond the wit of the authorities to close them down.

It's a fraud scam. They've somehow got a list of people who have purchased white goods and they're calling them to tell them the warranty has expired. I told him to fuck off and put the phone down as they were clearly trying to get me to pay for a new insurance policy when I blatantly didn't. This is the UK version of a scam running amok in the US. The supposed company, microsoftechs.com, contacts people and claims there is an issue with their computer. The claim to be partnered with Microsoft and gain confidence with all the classic scam talk. If you do get scammed, they will access your computer via remote access, go through your email, install software and who knows what else.
