I have had numerous calls from this number over the last few months and ignored them but this time I phoned back (with-held number of course)and the female answered with what sounded like Vidicom Basics. I have no idea what that is, even after a little searching online, but I know I have no reason to want to speak to any cold callers. It's a sales call. I missed it but it's a local number so called it back and got an answer machine message from Nationwide

If you do answer the nuisance calls and it’s NOT an automated message, be polite to the agent, talk to him/her. Remember they are on commission, so waste their time. State you are interested in their SCAM products. Give them false info. If you can arrange a rep to visit, do it at a local café and don’t turn up. I think you get the idea. This is probably where lying would be acceptable even if it’s not in your nature.

Scam recorded message to my mobile claiming my internet was about to be cut off because of malicious usage. This follows a number of similar calls to my land line.

called my 84 year old mother today mentioning landlines and HSBC. She's been made very aware of scams so he didn't get anywhere, but hasn't come up in any scam searches so a miniscule chance it could have been legit. Won't put money on that though

For once, an unknown number that is actually legit. It was a call from Thames Water. I didn t answer as I didn t recognise the number but the voice message was genuine with specific details (including the correct address) about a drainage issue I d discussed with them earlier. Genuine call.
