Definitely a scam. Never call back as you may be calling a Premium Rate or International number masked by a spoofed UK number which will be a very expensive call.

Asian female reportedly from "Windows Tech Support" called to tell me that that they had received numerous error messages from my computer and that she was there to help. Ran off a load of numbers and letter supposedly from my computer licence and when asked to repeat it the numbers and letters did not match. When asked to supply I.P. address hung up. "Windows Tech Support" would never ring. Total scam.

The number = 01709889223, this number phoned me today (at 13:08 on 1st March 2022) and the caller stated they were from BT OUTBOUND ringing about my telephone. They were indian, male and middle aged, they identified themselves as John Martin. I am ex-directory and my phone is registered with the telephone preference service to block sales calls and unwanted calls. I checked online and the number was listed as Indian and Rotherham based. Robot voice called claiming that my NI Number has been identified as "suspicious" and has been linked to a number of crime activities. It then went on to say something along the lines of; "it's very time sensitive to...". I hung up at that point as I expect it was going to give me details on how I can either hand over all of my personal details or pay a fine or whatever.
Called my Mobile - dialled the number from Office phone - "You have been called by RHS there is no need to return the call we will try again at another time... Bollocks will you...Blocked
I’ve just received all call from this number, claiming to have been given permission by my life insurers to contact me. I asked him who I was with and he read out about different company’s and was extremely rude. Definitely a scam I’ve blocked the number.
