Same as previous comment, although we pretended to go along with the rescue package to waste their time, when asked what we could see on our screen after being asked to press this and press that we said we could see Mickey effing Mouse and told them to eff off. Caller had the cheek to say we were bad people!! LOL
SCAM
Seems to be some call center, I can see more similar numbers (all the same range - 1618142xxx, just last 2 or 3 digits different) reported here already - mostly as insurance marketing, PPI - car accident chasers, "1st call group" or "Pensions Advisory Service". No idea who is behind it, they left no message, no VM. I really don't answer unknown numbers, tried to dig some info about this number first on internet, but no luck so far. People did someone answer it?

There were no less than five calls from this number while I was out. I did not need to be told it was the criminals pestering me again as I have had so many of them. However it was confirmed next day when a call came from a slightly different number, 01614357985. Other sites informed me a large number of people had been called similarly. My 92 year old uncle who has sight hearing and mobility problems has lots of calls to this number he can't use the phone and being charged for them I'm asking BT to look into this as if you call it it just beeps a few times this is obviously a scam I have asked them to block this number waiting for a call back from BT. think they are targeting the Elderly from comments on other sites if this number rings you do not answer and report to your phone provider

28/06/18 An India man called from 01420 300017, claiming to be from Telephone Preference Management. He said he was updating records, to stop me getting nuisance calls for life ( alarm bells already ringing). He asked me to confirm that I paid my phone contract by direct debit, and then asked me to confirm my card expiry date...at which point, I hung up.
