He then went silent I replied "Oh my god??" But he had hung up before I believe he had heard me! I said I wasn t old enough to need anything like that and to remove me from the list, they then demanded to know my DOB, and became rude when I told them it was none of their business and to take me off the list. I hung up in the end and blocked the number.

Had this number call a few times, yes it's part of Halifax but it's one of many of their areas - it could be birmingham midshires mortgage. It's not a scam. The reason you can't call the number back is it's a number set up not to accept incoming calls - many banks/mortgage companies etc have them now adays. Yes sometimes it's an Asian person, sometimes it's an English person - I'd love to know how you know though that they're muslim! Just because you can't call the numbeer back doesn't = scam. And yes if yo
NEVER call unknown numbers back as you may be calling a Premium Rate or International number masked by a spoofed number which could be a very expensive call.
