Called me today (28 April). "David" gave me the usual spiel about 'they have been receiving messages for the last two weeks from my computer that it is infected' (or somesuch). I gave them my usual reply about having to talk to my IT consultant, and could they give me a number to ring back. (At this point he rang off, as these jokers usually do.) Given collective knowledge about these people I have no hesitation in marking it 'dangerous'

Seriously, if I d a) had PPI and b) wanted to give some random company 30% of any compensation I could perfectly well obtain by doing it myself, then I would have answered one of their SIX previous calls or one of the hundreds, possible thousands of calls from other swindlers.
