"James" (Spoke very poor English)said he was calling from BT and that my internet router was infected and he needed to log on remotely to my PC. I asked why BY was calling because I am with another service provider. He said if I didn t let him log on my PC would close down and be permenantly damaged. I asked him for I number at BT i could verify his call was genuine and he hung up

Simples people. Register with the TPS. If any company makes an unsolicited call, bill them. I ve done this successfully about five times now.
keep calling even though i am on telephone preference list, when i said i hadn t paid any bank charges and where did they get my details, they hung up am worried that some old people might fall for this scam, have reported it to TPS etc

Line for shared costs, there are more similar numbers reported (just last 2 or 3 digits alternated) - so I assume this should be the same call centre. This seems to be some good working money trap, similar numbers are reported as robocalls, fake wins, scam offers (in most cases some financial offers). For sure some general call centre. I recommend to block the whole 8436563xxx range (I use the app from these pages, no problems)... People did someone answer this number?
