Well for a start I am not with BT and when he asked if I paid my telecoms bill by direct debit then it was time to politely tell him goodbye.

This is a dangerous new type of scam using a mixture of voice clips and synthesised voice at their end of the line. It does not respond too well yet if your answers aren't expected - such as asking the machine to run under a bus and then the driver could claim for an accident with them! All the same, it sounds more credible than a foreign call centre type of caller
