Fraud American accent, pre-recorded message saying it was HMRC and there was a problem with my tax record. Told me that in order to avoid jail I needed to sort this out immediately and had to press 1 to be put through to an advisor. Potentially very threatening for anyone who didn’t recognise it as a scam. Google search reveals that if I had pressed 1 my call might have been rerouted to a different country and I could have faced hefty phone charges.

The same text message is sent repeatedly and there is no way to speak to a person just a computer. This is not a service that was asked for or needed. Obviously fraudulent. Consumer research....and as like all these type of operations...when someone actually answers the phone at the customer end, the call is put through to an operator...if there is one available, hence the silence if one is not immediately there. They do state, if calling the number back, to leave your name and number to remove you from the database, which I have....so we shall see if these "nuisance" calls do actually stop!

This number called me this morning insisting they were my bank trying to prevent fraudulent transactions from a cloned card, then asked me to read out the digits on my card!! They didn't know which bank and stated it was an amazon transaction for £300 that was the fraud, this is tosh and I told them so, beware, they are very persistent even when called out.
