I believe this to be a telephone/banking scam. They purported to be my bank but they said they wanted me to open another account and transfer money from my account into this other account - at that point I stopped the call and called the number on the back of my debit card and reported the call to my bank fraud department.

Just received a call from this number, I answered, there was silence and then after a few second a beep followed by a robotic lady saying "Goodbye" I had received a missed call from this number a few times so this time I stupidly decided to call it back - not a normal ring tone for London/UK number. A man answered, sounded very much like a call centre and said "This is (forgot the name) from HMRC, what is your name?", I gave him my name and he said "We're looking for a Sheila Stevens". 01794399253 called my landline on Thursday 13 July and a recorded message advised me that money had been transferred from my account and to key 1 to sort it. 01794 is a Romsey UK number as is my number so I assumed it was local. I did not continue with the call. It was the same as other messages that I have received recently mentioned Amazon. How do scammers phone from local numbers?

Got a call from this number saying they are from HMRC and I have criminal record for outstanding tax payments. They said if I don’t pay today over the phone a warrant will be out for my arrest. Tried calling the number back and It says service closed with a dial tone. Sounds like a scam to me. Please be aware.
