SCAM Phone sim swop scam designed to by pass the 2 step verification system and gain access to passwords, banking etc. Looks like a Birmingham company actually based in Karachi. Bit of digging on Linkedin etc confirm this and that is it a cover for many businesses including call centres. Tells you all you need to know.

Another damn nuisance call. Some recorded woman's voice trying to convince me there are two fraudulent transactions on my bank account, press number one to get details etc. As it happened, I'd just been checking my bank account online, but I wouldn't have believed her anyway, as that's not the way my bank would contact me. This pathetic scam originated from a number in Knighton, a small town in Powys about ten miles from my house. Whoever you are, try and get a life!

SPAM I had a call this afternoon from 01491281131 The name was completely garbled but claimed there had been an attempt by Amazon for £300 this Morning, then a "suspicious- because I had never used this service before" International Money wiring service claim for £!,200. Then the usual Press 1 to cancel, 2 to speak to an advisor I did some checking and there is NO claims being made and the Phone Number has only been issued today, 5th April

Emmisions advice team, wanted me to enter contract to reclaim compensation for my diesel BMW. SCAM Told me it was the royal mail and they wanted to send me an invoice for £1.55 for a packet with no postage. I asked how they got my number and they said the delivery office gave it to them. The supposed packet was in London and I am in Somerset. I called her bluff and said the delivery office did not have my number and she then hung up. They did not have an English accent.

They use tons of VOIP numbers to run this scam and how it works is they sign you up to paying for these leads at say £50 or £100 per lead and of course you will never actually get it. Cold call claiming to be about my Life insurance from "MEH", they had my name but no details as to who my provider(s) were. Talking about issue of not being covered due to non-disclosure for older policies. Claimed not to be sales, but during the call I did hear in the background applause and cheers (which indicates someone did make a sale in the same room). I suspect it is a scam designed either to sell you a product or get information about your existing products

BT Call Guardian took care of it as the spammers/scammers will never bother to 'announce' themselves... they can't when they're using autodiallers to try and connect to as many number as possible.
