I couldn't find any info for this specific number, but as I can see people do search for this number on different similar pages, and there are more similar numbers reported (016181491xx - just last 2 or 3 digits alternated) - so I assume all the numbers belong to the same call centre. I have been called on about six occasions stating that I was involved recently in an motor accident and before I let them go on I told them no and then hung up. Being fed up with keep getting these calls I tried to phone it back only to find out that it is an invalid number. Obviously some sort of scam.
Had this number call a few times, yes it's part of Halifax but it's one of many of their areas - it could be birmingham midshires mortgage. It's not a scam. The reason you can't call the number back is it's a number set up not to accept incoming calls - many banks/mortgage companies etc have them now adays. Safe number to use, initially they called stating they are from CarphoneWarehouse, but the number was genuine from Viva Visa UK as regulated by OISC from the Gov.UK website, they seem to be victim of scam using their ID number in replacement - therefore if you are using their legal service then brilliant carry on, but if you are not then I would suggest blocking the number.
