This number should be a landline from Manchester - I haven't found any ratings for this number somewhere else on internet, but similar numbers of the same range 1618148xxx are always marked as call centre - telemarketing, accident claims or surveys (market research). I believe that the woman asking the question, 'I was informed that you have been involved in a car accident' is a recorded voice which responds to your answers. When I said that she was misinformed another phrase asking for 'the date of the accident', came back and so on until the line went dead. I'm convinced this is a robot! It's irritating at best, but would be upsetting for anyone who had a family member or friend involved in a bad accident.

SCAM. I've just switched phone contracts around a month ago and these clowns called me up offering a 'super deal' on an iPhone with free data, calls and messaging for £40. Very strong indian accents, I repeatedly asked them who they were and who they thought I was. I was passed to a 'supervisior' who couldn't tell me who I was. A genuinec call should ask if they are speaking with the account owner. When i called them out for being scammers they got a bit short. They eventually rang off. AVOID

They usually work for some third company and call with offer of some goods or services for the actual company they were hired for. Complete scam - were aware of the accident but a complete chancer with the details - their pitch was that the other party at fault were claiming injuries and as I wasn t at fault they had reserved cash for my injuries and therefore wanted to know what injuries I had sustained - which were none in a < 5mph "nudge"
