I asked how he had come by my phone number as I’ve never dealt with the company, but he immediately launched into a sales pitch. I stopped him saying he should not be phoning my number as it is registered with TPS. He said thank you and hung up.

I asked them where they got this information from - they said they purchased these details from a company and had got them as I had registered the accident but hadn t claimed anything. Fraud. Located in Clithero. Reported to Clithero police but they couldn't be bothered to investigate and told me to contact the fraud squad instead. They could have caught the culprit but weren't interested.

Get a very casual message using whatever name you are using on gumtree telling you youre paypal account has been hacked and to log in to change your pass.Like any sort of financial service would be running their security through a mobile.What made it more amusing for me is if they bothered seeing the third line of the ads they got my number from theyd see in large letters NO PAYPAL

Noone has my mobile number, and it nevers rings but today it did after i did apply for a new PAYG Sim Card for free from what i thought was genuine o2 web page advertising. If they are genuine and it s a courtesy call then fine, otherwise these could be scamartists trying to confirm your details by tricking you into surrending them online thinking its for a free sim card and cloning o2 s advertising website style. Be careful!
