No longer do I speak when I answer a number not familiar. If it's a cold call, they will speak first. If it's someone who knows me, they will speak if I don't. This one just hung up, so I can deduce it was an unsolicited and unwanted call and blocked them.
Lady with Indian accent claiming to be from "The Phone House Company" and wanting to upgrade me to a new iPhone 11. I asked how they have my number and she said from a shared database of all UK providers, although this would seemingly breach GDPR for sharing customer's contact details and wouldn't make sense for the businesses to risk losing customers this way. Called saying they were from Vodaphine technical team checking on my service. They wanted me to do a speed test first on my laptop, then on my phone. As apperently they were currently working on the line and I was having issues... I'm not with Vodaphone. They eventually hung up.
I called the number someone called Tom answered and then hung up. I was then diverted to another number 01259 333 035 in Alloa, Scotland. This 2nd number had called me yesterday too. It seems suspicious.

DANGEROUS SCAM. The Phone rang and caller (a computer) hung up when I didn't speak! This was a computer generated call trying to sniff out voice lines. If you answered "hello" or anything else then the line will be detected as 'a voice line' and you'll likely be called back later by some con-artist! They may also be quick to say they are not selling, simply enquiring, surveying, etc. THESE CALLS ARE SCAMS & HARASSING.
