I have been plagued by similar calls in recent times, and as my landline is quite new, only a handful of people actually have been given this number, therefore any unsolicited calls are clearly SCAMS

Normally they call me from different Aberdeen Numbers, so now they're trying to catch me out by phoning me from Dumfries. I answered a call from this number, and heard a male at the other end of the line with the sound of other people in the room. He didn’t answer immediately, and after a short while asked if I could hear him, to which I, possibly foolishly replied “Yeah, yeah”. The phone was not put down at his end, but there was no reply when I tried to communicate at which point I ended the call.
