I have been telephoned this afternoon – apparently by EE – to tell me that I was getting a 45% discount on my bill for the next year? I was then passed on to a supervisor to confirm my email address – which I did. They then said that they would email me and I would need to change the password to EEdefault19: at this point I told the caller I would hang-up.

Claimed to be from Virgin, calling about internet. Got increasingly frustrated with me when I said I didn’t recognise the number and would call Virgin myself. Didn’t believe the guy with Indian accent and I hung up when he wouldn’t go away. Scary as it sounded like a big call centre in the background and it would be easy to get sucked in. Hope everyone hangs up and karma catches up with what I believe are scammers.

A scammer trying to get my IP to then improve my internet connection but really just to hack me, told me that he was from BT and quite convincing but after playing along I terminated the call. Definitely a scammer.

I am moving from BT because of horrific service. I received a short automated message from BT - stating that they were taking over my line. I called to query this. The guy who answered verified my number, but it was not my number. I told him it was not mine and he abruptly hung up. I called back - the second call handler couldn’t understand the situation and became annoyed and hung up.
