Unsolicited call from 'Microsoft' claiming to be from Reading, England and with very English sounding names, but distinctly Indian sub-continent accents. Wanted to change settings on my 'computer' to prevent hacking. All sounded very plausible, and they gave this number for me to call back. I then did some research and discovered that it had to be a scam, since Microsoft would never make such a call. Beware & put the phone down immediately.

Seems like a classic phishing / scam call. I played along, the caller will purport to be from any number of organisations, and attempt to phish for data / account numbers and such like. Avoid at all costs, dangerous.

Indian man said he was calling from "England Claim Services" in Manchester. He addressed me by a bogus name I had given to a previous unsolicited caller. When asked he said the address was 96 Devon Road LU2 0RU which is in Luton. He gave me a contact number of 01624643245. He said I am entitled to a PPI payment of ?1826 but due to admin fees and taxes the actual amount I get is only ?720. However if I take out an insurance policy I would save the fees and taxes. Silent call, then hang up. Possibly trying to get return call to a premium rate number. I think the number shown on my mobile may be a spoof number to prompt me to reply and be diverted to the premium rate real number. This is the second time in 2 days I have reported a problem. Once to my landline, this one to my mobile. Really getting sick of the extent of the problem. Had 90 junk mails yesterday. Maybe need to change email address and phone numbers, big inconvenience.
