Had a call today saying that they were a new company setting up in my local area and they already had a company in Leeds. Asked me if I drank water. Said no - he was surprised! Then said he didn t blame me. Asked if I would answer a few simple questions to be entered into a prize draw for a holiday. SCAM - automated call saying I was under investigation by HMRC and there was a warrant for my arrest for non payment of taxes. Wanted me to press 1, which I didn't - can't be 100% sure but I expect they were after personal/bank details, in any case it's not a legitimate call.

I have called applianceserve on 08004118899. I said I had asked for a refund of the £175 I had paid for my washing machine to cover the next 3 years following the expiry of the manufacturer s guarantee but had not received any response. Having seen comments on the internet saying it was a scam, I said if the company is genuine then please can you arrange a refund. She looked up my details and said someone will call me tomorrow in office hours. She sounded pleasant - so - watch this space!!

Fraud Call was recorded message purporting to be from Amazon and saying that payent of £399 had been taken for my order, if I did not authorise this press 1. So hung up, so obviously a fraud. Caller ID on phone showed a local geographical number, most likely that this was fake. Telecoms companies should have a way of identifying the origin of these calls and should really address this lawbreaking, ie conspiracy to commit fraud.
