scam asking for £30 security deposit for a new phone stating they already had my sort code , account number & long card number. Women had an Indian accent.

SCAM: received a text message, allegedly from my daughter, at 00.54 in the morning which was 'hello mum, this is my new number. My old phone no longer works. Can you send this number a message on Whatsapp? 07706376356.' So I did. I then checked with my daughter, who confirmed that she has not changed her phone number. I have phoned the number twice since; does not pick up but does go through to an anonymous voicemail.

SCAM I have this afternoon received a telephone call purporting to be National Grid Meter Department and confirming a date and time to change meter as they said it was over charging. Scam number, said I'd been in a car accident and was owed £400k and they simply needed my debit card number, expiry date and the 3 digits on the back so they could "transfer the funds" to my account. When I declined to provide the details they told me I was "being a nerd".
