I keep getting calls from this number:- +441616673230. Typically, they ring off before I can answer. I ve tried ringing back and a recorded message tells me "not to worry" and that they will call me again later. There are three Google pages about this number and no-one knows any more than I do!

After the usual delay, while the auto-dialer connected me to a scammer, I heard a voice with a foreign accent shouting "Phone! Phone!" Then some mumbled words in a foreign language and they hung up. I think they could do with some work on their phone script.

If my son wanted them to contact him he certainly would not have given a number he hasn t used for 10 years. My brother got a call from this number asking for a gas meter reading. He was not sure where the caller was from but a 1471 and internet search brought up this number as belonging to British Gas. However I am not with British Gas but with Southern Electric, for at least the last 6 years. I called Southern Electric who said they did not call for any reading and would not do so.
