I gave this incorrect information to a unwanted cold call last week (Indian caller, UK Preference, claiming they were doing a survey). They have obviously passed my details to this company.

I didn't bother listening to the full message - I heard enough to know it was a pathetic criminal trying to scare people into handing them either personal data or money. This number told me my kitchen appliances insurance had expired. Told them I was insured with another company and she claimed I was insured with them. I then told her that I was called by them a few weeks ago, and told her not to ring my number again. Think they want your bank details.

Impossible to understand what the caller said, so I'm afraid I hung up.
This was actually just an automated BT text-to-landline service telling me the time slot for my Costco parcel delivery that I was expecting, so this was completely legit for me. It will try ringing you several times until you listen to the text message so just listen and it will stop. However, as it's a generic BT service it is open to abuse but I would advise against blocking it because the message delivery service itself is not a scam, just be aware though that the message you receive could be bogus.
