Someone called from this number to ask me about my workplace pension, they knew I was no longer paying into it, and that I had been paying in for around 5 years, maybe some of these were guesses, but foolishly I agreed to speak to one of their advisers . Yes, this definitely seems a genuine HSBC number but based in the Philippines. I received an SMS about a large payment I had made the day before and they were double-checking. HSBC do this type of checking all the time in Asia ( while I was living there), but less so in the UK.

Very arrogant person claiming to speak to one of our Directors "in relation to HMRC". When asked which department revealed to be Shenco Associates (or something like that)...but tried to be persistent without revealing WHO she was actually speaking to. Not a company you'd probably want to do business with if they don't have common courtesy.
