Nuisance call from someone suggesting that the warranty on my 16 year old washing machine has expired and needs to be renewed. Phishing for people to pay for a warranty on a washing machine purchased in 2006 is a scam to steal money from unwary recipients.

Automated call claiming to be from VISA's security dept. concerning about two payments - £400 and £700 - that had allegedly been taken from my VISA card this morning. Press 1 to . . . etc. No identifying information at all. Nothing to make this in anyway personal to me . . . I'm assuming scam (but will check!) Received 5 calls from this number on my landline today, 3 calls within 4 minutes, another one 15 minutes later and the last an hour and a half later. I leave the answer machine on, there was one automated message only that didn't inform me of anything. I've wondered why there are so many messages all of a sudden when I've had a quiet few days. I did receive a call from Home Start on a local 01267 number that I answered a half an hour before my first silent call. Maybe there is a link there.
